Questions About Late-Diagnosed ADHD & Coaching

Common questions about late-diagnosed ADHD in women, burnout, coaching, and workplace support in Melbourne and online across Australia.

ABOUT ADHD & LATE DIAGNOSIS

Why many women aren’t diagnosed until their 30s, 40s or 50s.

Late-diagnosed ADHD in women often shows up as high-masking and over-functioning rather than visible hyperactivity. It can look like chronic exhaustion, emotional overwhelm, difficulty starting without urgency, and constant mental load. Without the right lens for how your brain works, it’s easy to internalise the struggle as personal failure — until burnout forces a different conversation.

You don’t need paperwork to begin.

No. Many women I work with are newly diagnosed, self-identifying, or still exploring whether ADHD fits. Coaching focuses on patterns, nervous system strain, and sustainable systems — not labels. If the traits resonate and you’re exhausted from coping, support can still be helpful.

Understanding nervous system carry-over.

Very common. Many late-diagnosed women stay in a state of mental scanning and urgency long after the workday ends. The nervous system doesn’t automatically shift into recovery mode. Learning how to regulate and reduce that load is often part of sustainable ADHD support.

Why structure can temporarily mask difficulties.

Yes. Work often provides deadlines, expectations, and accountability that help hold things together. Challenges may become more visible in less structured environments like home life or parenting. Many women only recognise the pattern when work pressure increases or burnout sets in.

About ADHD Coaching

Different roles, different focus.

Therapy often focuses on mental health treatment and healing past experiences. ADHD coaching is forward-focused and practical — helping you understand how ADHD shows up now and build systems that support work and life. Many clients work alongside psychologists or psychiatrists.

Sustainable change, not pushing harder.

The goal isn’t to fix you or increase productivity at any cost. Coaching supports awareness, emotional regulation, and practical systems that reduce burnout. It’s about building ways of living and working that respect your capacity.

Understanding how support can work together.

Psychiatrists diagnose and prescribe medication. Psychologists provide therapy. ADHD coaching focuses on sustainable systems and daily implementation. Many women benefit from a combination of supports depending on their needs.

Workplace & Funding

Support for sustainable work, not over-performance.

Workplace ADHD coaching focuses on executive functioning, energy management, and emotional regulation under pressure. The aim is to make work sustainable — not to push harder or mask more effectively.

Support options for eligible Australian clients.

In some cases, workplace ADHD coaching may be supported through the Australian Government’s Employment Assistance Fund (EAF). Eligibility depends on individual circumstances. I can provide information to help you explore whether this pathway applies to you.

Practical Details

Melbourne-based, supporting clients online.

I am based in Melbourne and offer coaching online across Australia. Online sessions provide flexibility and accessibility for women balancing work, family, and recovery from burnout.

Understanding funding pathways.

ADHD coaching is not currently covered by Medicare in Australia. Some clients access workplace funding or self-fund as part of their professional or personal development.

Your privacy matters.

All coaching conversations are confidential and conducted in line with professional coaching ethics. Information is not shared without your consent, except where required by law.

Clear expectations from the start.

If you need to reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible. Session policies are outlined clearly before we begin so expectations feel steady and fair.
